Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – All charges have been dismissed against a Jonesboro man who was accused of sexually assaulting a minor after prosecutors were unable to locate the victim.

According to court documents, the Craighead County Circuit Court officially dropped the charges against Jaron Adaway on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Adaway was originally arrested in September 2025 and faced charges of traveling for the purpose of unlawful sex with a minor, interference with custody, fourth-degree sexual assault, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The initial 2025 arrest stemmed from allegations that Adaway brought a juvenile from Kennett, MO, to his Jonesboro apartment. The probable cause affidavit said that Adaway traveled to Kennett multiple times to have sex with the victim and supplied them alcohol and marijuana. The victim later tested positive for THC.

The state requested the dismissal due to its “inability to locate the victim or establish contact necessary to further prosecute this matter”.

The court order details that the Craighead County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office made multiple attempts to contact the victim and their family, including by mail and several phone numbers, but correspondence was returned and calls went unanswered.

Prosecutors also reached out to the victim’s last known school in an attempt to find updated contact information without success, and other involved agencies were similarly unable to reach the family.

“Despite utilizing multiple resources and avenues to locate the victim and the victim’s family and/or legal guardians and obtain current address or contact information, the State has been unable to locate them,” the order states.

Based on these findings, the court ordered that all pending charges against Adaway be nolle prossed and he was officially discharged.
