First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro to host Pet Blessing in October

Jonesboro, AR – (Contributed) – Sept. 19, 2025 – First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro is inviting the community to a Pet Blessing to take place in October.

According to a news release from the church, attendees can bring their leashed or caged pets. For pets who do not travel well, the release said owners can bring a photo, either a physical one or one on their phone, to receive a blessing. It added that children can bring their own stuffed animal for a blessing.

“This joyful event will give thanks for all God’s creatures – great and small. Each animal present will receive a personal blessing and a small gift,” the release said.

The church will be accepting donations for the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society as part of the event. Items needed include:

  • Clorox or Purex brand bleach
  • OdoBan cleaner
  • Laundry detergent
  • Disposable gloves
  • Fabuloso cleaner
  • Bottled water
  • Paper towels
  • Blue Dawn dish detergent
  • 13-gallon trash bags
  • Collars and leashes
  • Clumping cat litter
  • Cat and dog food for the pantry
  • Milk Bone dog treats

The event will take place at the parking lot on the corner of Union Street and Matthews Avenue on Oct. 5 from 2 to 3 p.m.
