Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug. 25, 2025 – Doug Formon on Monday formally announced his candidacy for Justice of the Peace, District 9 on the Craighead County Quorum Court.
Formon is currently director of security for the Brookland Public Schools, a job he has held for the past seven years.
Formon became a police officer for the Jonesboro Police Department in 1988. He left the department from 2004 to 2008 after being elected mayor of Jonesboro. He returned to JPD after his mayoral term expired. He retired from JPD in April 2017.
“I was born and raised right here in Craighead County, and this community has always been home to me,” Formon wrote in his press release announcing his candidacy. “I have been blessed with a wonderful wife, Cynthia, to whom I have been married for 41 years. Together, we have raised a family, and I am proud to be not only a husband and father, but also a grandfather. Faith is at the center of my life, and I am an active member of Family Fellowship Baptist Church.”
“I believe Craighead County deserves strong, steady leadership that values faith, family, and community,” Formon wrote. “If elected, I will work hard to represent the people of District 9 with honesty, accountability, and a commitment to serving the best interests of all our citizens.”
District 9 Justice of the Peace on the Quorum Court is currently Josh Longmire. Longmire announced his candidacy for District 30 State Representative in June, following incumbent Rep. Fran Cavenaugh’s announcement that she was not running for re-election.
