Craighead County, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Deputies arrested a Bono man after they said he shot his brother early Wednesday morning and had posted threats on Facebook prior.

Craighead County deputies were initially dispatched to a home on County Road 382 owned by 57-year-old Randall Maclynn Patton at 5:20 a.m. March 11 for a threat complaint. Upon arrival, deputies learned Patton’s brother, the victim, had been taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand. According to the probable cause affidavit, the shooting occurred next door at the victim’s house. The brothers are neighbors.

According to the affidavit, deputies found blood outside the home and a trail leading inside. The victim told authorities he was shot by Patton and was taken to the hospital by his roommate. Patton arrived back at the scene shortly after deputies and was arrested.

During the investigation, Detective Brock McFarlin learned Patton had contacted deputies in Brookland at 4:35 a.m., less than an hour before the shooting, stating he was angry with his brother and was going to confront him. McFarlin also found a threatening Facebook post made by Patton around the same time.

Patton’s wife told the detective that she received a call from him three hours earlier, where he sounded “very angry.” Fearing how he would act when he got home, she took her grandson to her son’s house, according to the affidavit.

The victim’s roommate told the detective that she was outside arguing with the victim when a light came on next door at Patton’s house. Shortly after, she heard gunshots. She said the victim ran inside the home while she retreated to her car, but she soon noticed the victim had a hole in his hand and drove him to the hospital.

McFarlin recovered three .380 shell casings next to Patton’s home and found three bullet holes in the victim’s home. Patton’s wife gave the detective an empty .380 Ruger LCP from a nightstand inside their home.

Patton appeared before District Judge David Boling on March 13, where Boling found probable cause to charge him with second-degree domestic battering, a Class C felony.

The online jail roster shows that Patton was released from the Craighead County Detention Center at 1:21 p.m. on March 12. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 23. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
