Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 20, 2025 – A Jonesboro sex offender was arrested after police said she had been living near a park and daycare.

According to the Arkansas Sex Offender website, 43-year-old April Genene Sutton had been delinquent since July 15, 2023. She was convicted of incest in July 2004 and assessed as a Level 3 sex offender.

An affidavit said that on Sept. 18, Jonesboro police officer Jacob Chambers responded to a call to help a tenant with an unwanted person in their home in the 2000 block of Belt Street. The person was identified as Sutton, who was arrested after confirming her identity and registration requirements.

The affidavit said the officer found that Sutton had been living less than 2,000 feet from the restricted areas of Phillip Evans Community Park and Leap Forward Daycare.

State law says that Level 3 offenders cannot live within 2,000 feet from a property on which any school or daycare facility is located, and public parks, youth centers, and the home of the victim.

District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause Sept. 19 to charge Sutton with failure to follow reporting requirements and being a registered offender living near a school or daycare.

Noting this was her fourth offense, Fowler gave Sutton a $100,000 cash/surety bond and a requirement to wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.

Sutton’s next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 25.
